Additional vaccination information is located here: https://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/vaccine-faq  and  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/faq.html

The CDC now recommends that people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems receive an additional dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after a second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

CDC DOES NOT recommend additional doses or booster shots for any other population at this time.

Currently, CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose.  This includes people who have:

  • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them.

According to IDPH data, 13,098 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in DeWitt Co, including 79.64 percent of those aged 65 and older, the population at greatest risk.  In addition, 15,558 doses have been administered in Piatt Co, including 86.48% of those aged 65 and older.

There has been growing concern regarding the Delta strain of the COVID-19 virus.  We do not have adequate data at this time to determine if any of the active cases are from this strain.  Delta has been detected in our jurisdiction.  Vaccination remains the best option to protect oneself against COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

Case numbers are rising substantially in both counties. DeWitt County is currently on the state WARNING LIST for COVID-19.  The county warning list metrics are found here:
