Piatt: 1 new case in Atwood. 1 new case in Hammond. 2 new cases in Bement. 4 new cases in Cerro Gordo.

DeWitt:  1 new case in Weldon. 1 new case in Waynesville.

Piatt: No cases reported.

 

10/10/2021 Sunday

DeWitt:  1 new case in Clinton.

Piatt:  1 new case in Mansfield.

 

 

With these additional cases, DeWitt Co has had a total of 2049 cases; Piatt Co has had a total of 2022 cases. Over the past week, DeWitt Co has had 25 cases, Piatt Co has had 25 cases. There have now been a total of 34 deaths in DeWitt Co and 14 deaths in Piatt Co due to COVID-19.

There has been growing concern regarding the Delta strain of the COVID-19 virus.  We do not have adequate data at this time to determine if any of the active cases are from this strain.  Delta has been detected in our jurisdiction.  Vaccination remains the best option to protect oneself against COVID-19, including the Delta variant.

 

Active Cases have continued to go drop over the past week.  The case numbers are near the lowest they’ve been since the week of 8/1/2021. Both DeWitt or Piatt counties are currently on the state WARNING LIST for COVID-19. However, incidence rates are still considered “substantial”.  The county warning list metrics are found here:

We are waiting on word about the expanded eligibility of Moderna booster shots. The FDA has not yet released an announcement concerning expanded eligibility for such additional doses.
